Weekend Roundup of Family Activities in Northeast Ohio for May 21-22

There are so many fun-filled, family happenings taking place around Cleveland this weekend it’s going to be difficult to decide what to do.

SATURDAY, MAY 21st

NASA Glenn Open House

Visit Lewis Field Campus for an exciting Open House celebrating NASA Glenn’s 75th anniversary. Tour their world-class facilities and view the technologies that contribute to the future of NASA. Listen to featured special presentations by NASA Glenn’s technologists and researchers and enjoy hands-on activities for kids including making a handheld jet engine, straw rockets and solar energy bracelets as well as demonstration carts on lunar robotics, soda bottle rockets, alternative energy and more.

Cleveland Asian Festival in AsiaTown

Don’t miss this annual celebration of Asian Pacific American heritage. Enjoy a variety of Asian cuisine. Features two stages featuring cultural performances and fashion shows. Children can experience  Asian culture, games, and traditions at the activities pavilion.

Rock Your World with STEAM at North Coast Harbor

Enjoy this day long musically charged, energy-filled event; a culminating celebration of CMSD students’ excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. Includes performances on 6 stages, a science and art showcase, make & take activities, fitness fun, and more.

Hessler Street Fair

The Hessler Street Fair is a free event and festival of arts, crafts, food and music, welcoming thousands of visitors every year from all over Ohio and beyond to our corner of the world each spring.

Star Wars Night with the Lake County Captains

Hang out with Star Wars characters on the concourse as the Captains host the Cubs. Stay after the game and enjoy a fireworks spectacular.

Sheep Shearing Weekend at Lake Metroparks Farmpark

Watch as sheep and goats are sheared of their winter coats. Learn hands-on how to spin, weave and make felt. Meet fiber-producing animals including sheep, goat, alpaca and rabbit.

Children’s Fishing Derby at Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Kids can reel in big fun at the annual Cleveland Metroparks Children’s Fishing Derbies. Hungry rainbow trout, catfish and a variety of other fish are ready for young anglers to try their luck on while competing for prizes. Children can also learn how to cast and test their skills at the casting challenge.

Bioblitz and Biodiversity Festival at Cuyahoga Valley National Park

All ages are invited to enjoy hands-on science and nature exhibits from local conservation organization, live animal demonstrations, yoga, crafts, and biowalks with scientists.

Downtown Willoughby Rib Burn Off

This two-day event is going to rock Willoughby! Three stages for live bands, vendors, and more activities are going to make the 5th annual Rib Burn Off an award-winning downtown Willoughby event!

Day Out with Thomas with Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
