If you haven’t made your way to Piccadilly Artisan Creamery, you are definitely missing out on a real treat. Not to be confused with Piccadilly Artisan Yogurt which I understand is amazing as well, Piccadilly Artisan Creamery is located in University Circle on at 11607 Euclid Avenue. Yes, parking can be a bit difficult in the area. There is a small metered lot at the corner of E 115th and Euclid where you can usually find a spot. If not, there is also parking just across E. 115th behind the Uptown Building.
At Piccadilly all the ice cream is handcrafted to order on site using farm-fresh and organic ingredients. I’m talking your ice cream is frozen right before your eyes using liquid nitrogen fresh. But trust me this is not just a fancy gimmick to draw in the crowds. The resulting ice cream is extremely smooth and the flavors are amazing (you can’t beat fresh).
The ordering process is pretty straight forward. You pick an ice cream or yogurt flavor for your base. Then any toppings you would like are extra. If you aren’t adventurous in flavor creation, there is a list of favorites you can order from or use for inspiration. Don’t be intimidated by the process. All of the staff are extremely helpful and will gladly walk you through ordering.
They give you the option of having your topping mixed into your ice cream or used as a traditional topping. Once the base of milk or yogurt from grass-fed cows and your topping, that’s when the real magic begins. The liquid is placed into a large blender and liquid nitrogen is added. This is quite a show. The steam from the liquid nitrogen flows onto the countertop like magic is happening. In about 2-3 minutes your ice cream is ready to be enjoyed!
If you are in a rush and don’t have time for handcrafted ice cream, Piccadilly does offer traditional frozen yogurt machines at the back of the store. However, if you have the extra time you really must try the handcrafted ice creams. You will definitely be coming back for more!
